The Port of Crotone set the stage for the tenth edition of the Carnival Race, organized by the Crotone Sailing Club, welcoming over 1,000 visitors from all over Italy. The event featured 284 young sailors who, driven by the wind, competed in the waters off the port, while on land, the festive atmosphere engaged both young and old with colors, music, and masks.
The President of the Crotone Sailing Club, Gianluca Ruperto, expressed his satisfaction: “Our club can now compete with the most renowned sailing clubs in the world of regattas. The wind conditions and the unique wave patterns of the sea in Crotone, combined with the new facilities at the marina, allow us to offer sailors an ideal space for training and competitions.”
The event took place in a profoundly renewed setting thanks to the interventions designed and funded by the Port System Authority of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas. Through an integrated development project, the Port System Authority has initiated the urban redevelopment and pedestrianization of certain port areas, aiming to make the port increasingly central to tourism, yachting, and sports activities, as well as more accessible to the public.
Against this backdrop, the President of the Port Authority, Andrea Agostinelli, officially presented the completed works, which will be inaugurated by the Port Authority on April 11. This marks a significant step forward in transforming the port into a key hub for tourism and sports in Crotone.
